Join Our Journey of Empathy and Unity: Solidarity Fast 2025

Welcome to our JustGiving campaign for the Solidarity Fast 2025, an event that symbolises our shared commitment to combating food insecurity and fostering a spirit of community. For a second time, we are thrilled to announce a unique collaboration with Nottingham Forest Football Club & Community Trust, hosting this powerful gathering at the iconic City Ground.

This is more than just a fast—it is a beacon of hope, unity, and collective action. In the month of Ramadan, we embark on a day of fasting to stand in solidarity with those for whom hunger is an everyday reality. Through fasting, we express empathy, connect with the challenges faced by many, and reaffirm our dedication to making a meaningful difference.

Event Highlights:

- Words of inspiration – Be inspired by heartfelt messages from Nottingham Forest Community Trust, Nottingham Forest Football Club, and Himmah's Director, as they share their insights on resilience, community, and the power of collective action.

- Breaking the fast together – As the sun sets at approximately 17:50, we will share a meal together alongside Himmah and Nottingham Forest Staff, symbolising our shared journey.

- Exclusive behind-the-scenes tour – Attendees will have the unique opportunity to enjoy a special short tour of the City Ground, offering a glimpse into the heart and soul of the club.

3. Spread the Word – Use the power of social media to raise awareness about the event and your fundraising efforts. Every share, like, and comment helps expand our reach and impact.

How To Fast:

Here's a brief guide on how to fast for the Solidarity Fast:

Nutritional Preparation:

- Suhoor (Pre-Dawn Meal) – Eat a nutritious meal before dawn to sustain you through the day. Focus on complex carbohydrates, proteins, healthy fats, and plenty of fluids. Ideal foods include whole grain bread, brown rice, beans, eggs, nuts, fruits, and vegetables.

- Iftar (Meal to Break the Fast) – We will break the fast together at Nottingham Forest, traditionally starting with dates and water, followed by a balanced meal. This communal Iftar is a special moment to replenish and reflect.

- For additional nutrition tips, visit the British Nutrition Foundation: https://www.nutrition.org.uk/putting-it-into-practice/food-seasons-and-celebrations/a-healthy-ramadan/

Timings:

- Suhoor – Wake up early for suhoor before dawn (around 4:00-5:00 AM GMT in March). Ensure you complete your meal before sunrise.

- Iftar – The fast will be broken at sunset (around 5:30-6:00 PM GMT). We will come together at The City Ground to share this special meal.

Fasting Tips:

- Stay Hydrated – Drink plenty of water between Iftar and Suhoor. Avoid caffeinated drinks to prevent dehydration.

- Engage in Moderate Activity – Avoid strenuous exercise while fasting, especially if you are unaccustomed to it.

- Rest and Reflect – Use the daylight hours for rest, reflection, and embracing the spirit of the fast.

- Celebrate Community – The fast is not just an individual experience but a communal one. Together, we stand in solidarity, supporting one another and sharing in the joy of breaking our fast at Nottingham Forest.
