Story
We have been supporting young people since 2003. Young people who join Snow Camp are all in need of support, some suffer from poor self-esteem, struggle with their mental health or are having difficulty in school or their personal circumstances. Snow Camp is a lifeline providing vital opportunities and support to those who need it the most.
Why snowsports?
Young people learn valuable life skills through Snow Camp. Learning to ski or snowboard requires perseverance, commitment, listening, teamwork, patience and overcoming fear as well as learning how to respond to challenges, deal with peer pressure and setting goals for the future.
Snowsports are awesome which makes them immediately engaging. Young people accessing Snow Camp would never have access to snowsports without our support. This shift in environment creates a response in the young people, widening their horizons and raising their aspirations.
As part of their training young people also experience the mountains for the very first time on an annual residential. This is the pinnacle for the young people, after a year of hard work at the indoor snow domes in the UK, they spend a week in the mountains shadowing instructors and gaining valuable snow experience.
