Story
In 2022 we only had resources to return to Jordan (twice) as well as to fund UK work. Exciting plans are being finalised for a trip to both Jordan and Turkey in late January 2024 with more to follow, including other countries in the region where there are refugees. Through shows and workshops for trauma relief, we hope to be able to support the Palestinians in Jordan, including the injured from the Gaza tragedy. And the Azraq Fund school for Syrians, the Collateral Repair Project or CARE in Amman. In Turkey the earthquake response is ongoing as is therefore the need for trauma relief - we hope to support needs in SE Turkey as well as in Istanbul, such as Support to Life in Hatay despite many operational areas being wiped out by the earthquake.
In the UK the needs of asylum seekers remain great - as can be seen here in a London hotel where asylum seeker families have been over a year without permission to work and awaiting decisions on their claims.
There is a hungry market for the use of wellbeing magic for stress and trauma relief - with the emotional, cognitive and social benefits. We will also continue to campaign for the rights of Gazans, asylum seekers and refugees.
All partners are invited to write reviews of their experience. One UK partner had this to say: "It was magic to see the smiles and sheer joy on the faces of refugee children at the magic shows by Jamie Jibberish, Humanitarian Magician from Magic for Smiles. The faces of the children (and even the adults!) were priceless as they marvelled at how Jamie did his magic tricks. These were received with chatter, laughter and smiles, with the children keen to join in".
We will be hugely grateful for any donations from our kind supporters.
