Slip into Slippers is our Autumn FUNdraising and Awareness Campaign where we are asking individuals, families, businesses, schools, and clubs, to get involved by slipping into their slippers for a day, have some fun and possibly take some photos/videos and make a small donation to Age UK Herts. The chosen day for our Slipper-thon is Friday 4th October, to coincide with United Nations International Day of Older Persons , on Tuesday October 1st, and thus the hope is for our communities to come together - celebrating the privilege of aging.

On this day, with your help, Age UK Herts [AUKH] can highlight the needs of older people and raise vital funds to support our services, so we can strive to meet some of those needs. Our range of services include supporting older people to live independently and safely, preferably in their own home. We, also, provide opportunities for older people to take part in social activities and meet friends.  Loneliness is an ongoing concern particularly in older age and has a significant impact on their health and wellbeing.

AUKH are part of the national Age UK ‘network’, but many people don’t realise that, as a local independent charity, we must raise our own funds to run our services. This is therefore a community campaign that will directly benefit local older people and all fundraising sent to us will stay within Hertfordshire. Moreover, AUKH are working with Herts County Council to develop Herts into an official Age Friendly Community, and this campaign is part of this initiative, and all will help raise awareness of the issues facing older people in the county.
