The Sleep Charity is running a pilot programme to tackle Sleep Poverty in South Yorkshire, thanks to initial funding from CareTech Foundation.
Not only is it important to highlight issues around bed poverty but we also believe that everyone deserves access to other essential products that help them to achieve a better nights sleep and improve overall health and wellbeing.
Sleep poverty is a real issue here in South Yorkshire and nationally too and with winter fast approaching, and the current state of the economy, we need to act now.
Having a proper bed and sleep environment is crucial to a good nights sleep which, in turn, is vital to our overall health and wellbeing. More and more families are feeling the strain, with the cost-of-living crisis a heavy burden on many. We hope that through this programme we can support families here in South Yorkshire and further afield as well as helping others to spot the signs of sleep poverty and support people to access help.
Weve had support from Silentnight and Mattress Online with beds and mattresses, duvets and warehouse space but we desperately need to purchase items such as hot water bottles, blankets, curtains, bedding and nightwear.
Everyone deserves access to the essential products that help us to achieve good sleep, no matter their background or situation.
