SPONSOR A SLEEPER

Today we launch SPONSOR A SLEEPER . There are over 50,000 sleepers along the 13.5 miles of track plus all the sidings. The sleepers cost about £20 each and you can donate as little as £2.

If we could all sponsor a sleeper or two, the money raised will help fund the winter 2021 track laying project. How much you would like to donate is your choice but please give whatever you can.

All the money raised will go into our General Fund to ensure that we can respond quickly.

THE RAILWAY HAS SENT THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IN SUPPORT OF THE SLEEPER APPEAL :

COVID-19 has affected us all. We have been overwhelmed by the support you have shown our world famous railway when we had to close. Whether you bought a virtual ticket, a virtual bacon roll on virtual gala day or an item from our Amazon Wish list, we thank you. Since reopening RHDR again in 2021, we have again been thankful for the support of our customers. Our social distancing placements and individual compartments in all our carriages will remain in place for the time being. There is nothing more rewarding for the survival of the railway than to read your positive reviews, watch smiling faces and hear about your adventures.

Track re-laying in action :

We have had to reduce capacity on the trains. We have had to reduce the daily timetables. We are looking forward to being able to open our model railway museum after its refurbishment but are pleased that we can now open most of our eateries. The Second World War didn't stop the railway and COVID-19 wont either. But we need your help again to boost our income, to help us rebuild the engine shed, maintain our track, support the railway through the next winter months and welcome back Santa 2021.
