Story
This challenge event asks you to spend one night sleeping somewhere other than your bed in order to raise critical funds to assist us in addressing the root causes of youth homelessness.
Its simple to participate in this event, which takes place on Friday, 11 March! Simply grab a sleeping bag and sleep somewhere other than your bed, such as your garden, living room, hallway, or another safe space.
YMCAs are encouraging supporters to sleep rough so that others do not have to by participating in special YMCA Sleep Easy events taking place across England and Wales. Ordinarily, this would have entailed groups and individuals gathering at a YMCA, constructing cardboard shelters, spending the evening outside, and sharing the harsh realities of life on the streets.
Sleep rough, so others dont have to. One night can make a lifetime of difference. Will you join us and make a difference?
The challenges of organising an event like this during the current pandemic are numerous, but they pale in comparison to the difficulties that young homeless people face on a daily basis.
NEW for 2022!!! Southend YMCA Sleep Easy PJ's Day!
This year are inviting local schools, organisations and businesses to support our Sleep Easy fundraising campaign on Friday 11th March by wearing your pyjamas for the day and donating £1 to support vulnerable young people in Southend-on-Sea and surrounding areas. All proceeds from your school's Sleep Easy PJs Day will go towards our vital support services, which include safe accommodation, counselling, mentoring, life skills training and positive activities for vulnerable young people.
Since its beginnings in 2010, YMCA Sleep Easy has seen over 7,000 people sleep rough in order to raise over £1.5 million for local YMCA services that assist young people in rebuilding their lives.
