YMCA Humber is calling on local residents to come together and sleep rough for one night on 7th February 2020 to support local, homeless young people.
Last year local people helped raise in excess of £32,000 for local charities as more than 150 brave souls in Grimsby and Hull took part in the event. This year we are looking for even more people to participate to help raise awareness of homelessness issues and to raise valuable funds.
The event will take place on 7th February 2020 at Freshney Place, Grimsby and Wilberforce College Hull, from 6pm to 6am. Participants will spend the night outside and get involved with a shelter building competition, a warm-up session, plus some fun activities.
While there is recognition from the public that homelessness is going up, new research from YMCA has found that just one in four young people who are homeless (26%) believe the public care about youth homelessness.
YMCA Humber are hoping that this event will act as a way of showing young people in our community who are homeless that the public do care about them and that they are trying to tackle the problem of homelessness by raising vital funds.
