Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Anything you can give to help enrich the lives of our residents at Skirbeck Court will be greatly appreciated.

This sponsored silence is to raise money to allow us to purchase specialist headsets to enable our residents to have silent discos.

Music is extremely beneficial to those living in care, and particularly to people living with dementia. Donna, our dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, has explained below how music can impact individual residents in the home.

"Music and memory are powerfully connected, which is what makes music such a key part of enriching the life of someone living with dementia. Through music, we can unlock and revisit happy memories, greatly improving quality of life and increasing joy. Music can also reduce anxiety in people living with dementia and help maintain language and speech, as well as being beneficial in end of life care."

The headsets that we would like to purchase will allow each individual resident to listen to their favourite music, and is an extension of the person centred care that we pride ourselves on providing for each resident.
