Story
Every Year for the last 10 years our riders embark on a memorable 100-mile journey from the heart of Derby to the refreshing shores of Skegness with the SkegVegas 100 charity bike ride. This event is more than just a test of endurance; it's a beacon of hope for children facing adversity. As we pedal forward, we proudly support the Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre (DCHC) and, in a new chapter of our charitable journey, extend our support to Derby Kids' Camp. Both of these amazing local charities do so much for under privileged children in Derbyshire.
Derby Children’s Holiday Centre - Skegness
DCHC, established in 1891, provides 660 holiday places per season, which runs between April and October.
Our specialist Holiday Centre situated close to the seafront in Skegness not only helps the children have a great time and make new friends, it contributes to their education and life skills.
Just a week away at the Centre can make a huge difference. It gives the youngsters time and space to relax, make new friends and enjoy themselves in a supportive and structured environment, and in the care of our fully trained staff.
Derby Kids’ Camp – Peak District.
Established 50 years ago this entirely volunteer-run charity provides free holidays for over 350 of Derbyshire’s most deserving children each year nominated by schools. Through a permanent on site 6-week summer camp and weekends at Backdanes cottage, they deliver high level experiences.
These children face huge challenges in their day-to-day lives: from poverty to bereavement; social interaction difficulties and the challenges of being a young carer. Their week at Derby Kids’ Camp gives them the chance to try out new activities, explore new surroundings, make new friends – and more importantly, enjoy being a kid!
