Story
"It's nice that we are thought about at this time of year, being away from our loved ones. It's my first Christmas away from my family and and my first year in prison, so please can you pass on my thanks to everybody who was involved in the Christmas Gift Project." - Letter received from a serving prisoner
Christmas is a very difficult time for people in prison: away from their families, staying in their cells for long hours, and the normal regime put on hold for the holidays. The unexpected gift of a bag of goodies from people they do not know, can really lift their spirits. These small acts of kindness remind people that they are not forgotten, that there are people who care about them and that there is a welcome for them when they are released.
The bags cost approx. £7.50 each, yet they are received as though they were made of gold.
Please help us by donating to this project, to bring a little joy and hope to prisoners at Christmas and beyond.
(Any donations received over and above the cost of the bags will go towards running costs and work of Sixty-One)
