Story
SisterWood is a fledgling charity that supports girls between the age of 12-16 with mental wellbeing and resilience. The young people who've recently come to us have had unhealthy coping mechanisms such as self-harm or self-neglect and were suffering from suicidal thoughts, body dysmorphia, anxiety or eating disorders.
At SisterWood they play games, cook together, meditate and get creative and in each session they learn ways to support themselves, such as journaling, talking with friends, listening to music and getting outside.
After just a few sessions at SisterWood we saw their hope and positivity return, and they went away with healthy coping strategies for when life gets really hard.
The sessions were all held outside in a wood in the Teign Valley and we struggled throughout the winter with just a tarpaulin to keep us dry and warm. We know that for future courses to be successful, and for the young people to get the most out of the sessions, we need to invest in a proper shelter.
Please help us to buy a tent to keep us dry - so that we can support young people, whatever the weather!
