Story
SisterWood is a forest school for girls, based in Higher Ashton. We work with young people who are experiencing anxiety, stress, or depression. Often they are unable to carry out day to day activities, including attending school, and have developed unhealthy coping mechanisms such as self-harm, self-neglect and eating disorders.
We teach them healthy ways to support themselves, such as breathwork, meditation, journalling, listening to music and getting outside. It’s clear to see the young people's sense of achievement and confidence grow as they become competent splitting wood, whittling, building fires and cooking food together.
We need YOUR help to make this accessible to young people from disadvantaged and marginalised backgrounds who would not typically be able to afford to attend this kind of intervention.
