Story
Singing for Syrians is a campaign run by the Hands Up Foundation, raising money for aid to Syrians through the power of music. Jointly chaired by artist and illustrator, George Butler and Victoria Prentis MP, and backed by some of the nation's best-loved stars (including Dame Joanna Lumley, Sir Michael Morpurgo OBE and Tom Hollander), we have sung our heart out for Syria.
We Need You
This year, with your support, we hope to raise £120,000. Find out how you can get involved.
All funds raised from the campaign go towards the Hands Up Foundation's work providing education and health services for some of Syria's most vulnerable. Find out more about our work.
Why #SyriaStillMatters?
10 years ago we decided to do something to help some affected by Syria's conflict. We had no idea that over a decade later a number growing into millions would be in increasingly urgent need. We cannot afford to forget them.
Today:
* 14.6 million people need humanitarian assistance.
* 90% of the population live in poverty and 2 million live in informal settlements and camps.
* 2.4 million children are out of school and 1.3 million are at risk of dropping out.
* 70% of Syria's medical staff have left the country.
At Hands Up, we believe in giving Syrians a hand up not a handout. All funds raised go directly to health and education programmes that are supporting the livelihoods of Syrian doctors and teachers as well as vital services to their local communities.
