South East Coast Immediate Medical Care Scheme (SIMCAS)

Organised by SIMCAS

SIMCAS is the BASICS charity for the South East. SIMCAS is entirely a charity and we rely on the generosity of the public to keep us alive so we can continue to provide an exceptional level of pre-hospital medical care, and be there when you need us.

SIMCAS is a charity that provides advanced clinical care out of hospital primarily to Sussex, Kent and most of Surrey. We are entirely funded by donations. We count experienced doctors, nurses, paramedics and other specialists amongst our members. We also have a small, dedicated support team.

Story

SIMCAS clinicians are highly trained specialists and have years of experience in pre-hospital emergency care. Our team consists of Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics, all from various different backgrounds and with a wide variety of experiences during their career.

We bring an advanced level of clinical practice where it is needed the most. For example, our team can provide procedural sedation, advanced life support, rapid-sequence induction (RSI), advanced airway skills, life-saving surgical interventions and enhanced trauma assessment and care.

At other times we are happy to be an extra pair of hands and can be useful in providing a medical overview of the situation.

Many areas around the UK now have their own immediate care scheme, consisting of Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics. Nationally in the UK these are grouped under the banner of the British Association for Immediate Care.

SIMCAS, the South East Coast Immediate Care Scheme covers the whole of Sussex, Kent and part of southern Surrey. It currently consists of doctors, nurses, paramedics, trainers and our treasurer.
