Story
SiMBA Family Rooms within maternity and neonatal units offer bereaved parents the opportunity to spend the most precious time with their baby in a peaceful and private setting. A place where precious memories can be made and photos taken. A place where siblings, family members and friends can also visit and meet baby. A place where you can spend time together, that can never be replaced, in the most perfect of surroundings.
The SiMBA family rooms are the most special place. We cannot change what has happened, but we can transform hospital room into a beautiful space, that offers sanctuary to our parents.
Through the Lola Commons fund for SiMBA we encourage community involvement and we would like to invite parents, families, hospital staff, local businesses and corporate connections to join together and play a key role in the refurbishment designs and room content. Together we can work towards achieving our fundraising target and installing the "gold standard" rooms that we strive for.
Our Family Room project in Raigmore is an extensive project, as we aim to support anyone who loses a baby at any stage of pregnancy or close to the time of birth. This is one of the most comprehensive refurbishments that we have ever undertaken and it includes:
The refurbishment of a stairwell to offer a private access to our family rooms on Ward 10
The refurbishment of a family room, a delivery room and a quiet room in Ward 10
The refurbishment of a family room in the Labour Ward
The refurbishment of a family suite in the Neonatal Unit
An overnight room in Ward 9 for early Pregnancy Loss
