Story
Each year, the Legion of Honor calls upon the entire brotherhood to celebrate the anniversary of our spiritual founding by making a gift on Sigma Nu's Day of Giving.
The Day of Giving gifts help provide our young members with the same life-changing experience enjoyed by our alumni during their years in school. Our annual Day of Giving occurs in mid-October, commemorating the moonlit October night of 1868 on which our Founders gathered at the Rock on the parade ground of Virginia Military Institute to form a brotherhood dedicated to Love, Honor, and Truth.
With this in mind, we are asking you to invest in the leadership development of our collegiate brothers during Sigma Nu's Day of Giving on October 19, 2022.
What is the Day of Giving focus this year?
This year, Sigma Nu will focus on raising funds for the LEAD Program, our four-year leadership program for collegiate brothers. We are preparing to revise the program and improve the tools chapters can use to implement the program locally. We need the support of alumni, parents, and friends to meet our goal.
You can impact the lives of our 11,000 collegians through a gift on the Day of Giving, which will support the continued pursuit of Excellence in leadership development for our active members.
What is LEAD, and why is it essential to our Fraternity's Mission?
LEAD was the first program of its kind in the Greek world. It is a comprehensive ethical leadership development program designed to ensure members "learn by doing." There is a phase of the LEAD Program for each year that a collegiate brother is in college and a phase that focuses on the entire chapter. More than 60,000 collegiate brothers have been through the LEAD Program since its inception in 1988.
What do brothers have to say about the LEAD Program?
LEAD has grounded us in the value of continual growth. It has taught me to grasp other perspectives and identify the lessons learned in all experiences. I would not know what I know, do what I do or be who I am if LEAD had not been part of my Sigma Nu experience. Ryan McCormick (Minnesota Mankato)
LEAD was the best tool that my chapter has utilized to keep us focused on why we joined Sigma Nu in the first place and what areas of improvement we have to focus on a chapter as well as an individual basis. Hector Diaz (UC San Bernardino)
