Story
In the last 2 weeks alone we have had 11 new faces in The Ark - people recently homeless and needing our help - and we are at capacity.
Alongside this, we are receiving an unprecedented number of phone calls and people knocking on our door each day, people who know they are going to be homeless in the next few weeks, who don't know where to turn.
We are genuinely struggling to support everyone who asks us and we don't see an end to the increasing numbers. It is getting colder and we are handing out more sleeping bags and food to more people who are living in dreadful conditions with no chance of getting a roof over their heads due to a lack of social housing - especially for single men.
We are seeing massive increases in young people under 25 who are sleeping out and do not have families who can support them. It is heart breaking to send people, barely out of their teens, away with a sleeping bag and a cup of tea at the end of each day but that is all we can do.
As you know we get no government or council funding, we literally rely on the kindness of our friends and community.
