Story

The past year and restrictions faced as the result of the pandemic have been challenging and, in continuing to respect restrictions and in consideration of the significant efforts of everyone on our campus and the wider community, we have taken the decision to cancel our popular Summer Festival for 2021. However, we are confident that our Festival will be back bigger and better than ever in 2022!

Finding ourselves unable to celebrate in this usual style or with any large gatherings, we have instead launched an exciting 70th Anniversary Summer Challenge to unite us in celebration and shared experience, albeit in a different way. We are therefore inviting you all to join us and conquer 70 miles over the summer to celebrate our 70th anniversary. Connect with nature as you run, walk, cycle or swim your 70 miles! Participate in whichever way that you choose just as long as it isn't powered by anything other than you!

We would love everyone to join together in our 70th Anniversary Summer Challenge. It will be a celebration of 70 years but also a lovely way of coming together and sharing a journey as a result of your connection to the Sheiling. Our residential students will also have the opportunity to take part with support of house staff.

Why this challenge? A love of the outdoors and connecting with nature is at the heart of the Sheiling. Challenging ourselves to be physically fit whilst caring for our mental health and wellbeing is always close to us but never more so than during these unprecedented times. The ultimate aim is for everyone to get involved in whatever way they can but, most importantly, to simply enjoy taking part.

Whilst it is not our key aim and nor is it a requirement, we would be delighted if you feel you can donate a small amount as the pandemic has seen some of our usual fundraising activities postponed or cancelled.

All funds raised make a huge difference to our students lives.
