Story
SCUFF started in September 2018 to help fund tattoos to cover the scars left from self-harm. This was inspired by the founder, Jess King's, own story and the freedom she felt after having her own scars covered.
5 years later and we still fund tattoos, for those in the greatest need, we run training for professionals, organisations, family and friends who may be supporting people who self-harm and we run local drop-in clinics and recovery workshops for people who want to stop self-harming.
This year, to celebrate turning 5 years old, we are running a month long campaign to shatter the stigma around self-harm, encouraging people to talk about their experience, giving people hope and making it easier for them to reach out. For the whole month our social media will be focused on sharing stories from people across the UK, who have lived with self-harm.
We also want to raise £5000, £1000 for every year we have been running. This money will be used to fund tattoos for those living with self-harm scars and to fund the creation of a training video, so that we can run our training online, for free, so more people can access information around crisis management.
