Story
The cost-of-living crisis is making it harder for people to put food on the table. This crisis affects many of us, but particularly those who are already struggling to feed themselves and their families. Share is a south-west London charity that provides programmes and training to adults with learning disabilities and autism to support them to live happier, healthier and more independent lives, and many have developed excellent catering skills during their time with us. They will put those skills to great use by providing nutritious meals, free of charge, to those in our community who need them most.
We will be working in partnership with The Black Prince Trust, a Lambeth-based charity that works to create opportunities for local residents to take part in sport and physical activity, health and wellbeing focused programmes, and education and training towards employment.
How it works
Students at Share work with our chefs to cook and package meals from our kitchen at the Black Prince Community Hub in Vauxhall. Local residents collect the meals direct from the site to reheat at home, providing them with a hot, nourishing meal. This not only meets an essential need in the community, but also helps Share’s students gain hospitality and catering skills, supporting them to embark on a path towards employment. And it gives them the chance to connect with people in the community, building social skills and a sense of pride and achievement.
Your support – donate today
We can’t do this alone. We need your help to fund this vital project. A nutritious meal is a lifeline, especially now when rising costs force many people to cut back on essentials. Your donation will make a big difference, ensure fewer people go hungry, and help equip disabled people with essential skills for a brighter future.
Everything we raise over our target will fund our charity’s other projects supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism.
