Story
This year, as #wfh became the norm, the average working Brits travel expenses reduced significantly. Commuting Londoners have saved £16-£52 a week on TFL and drivers in the UK saved £34.14 p/w on average from not running their cars. However, at Luminary, our trainee's expenses are only set to increase this year.
With the start of our newest programme, the Luminary Employability & Independence Programme, we will be supporting 26 women to pursue paid employment and independence this Autumn-Winter. By training them in further professional and personal skills, through workshops and 1-2-1 support, we will be equipping them for futures where they can thrive. We offer every graduate £5 a week to cover her transport to our training center for these 6 months. Would you consider gifting just a fraction of the money you've saved on travel during lockdown to a Luminary beneficiary so she is able to travel to and from Luminary when she starts this programme? By Sharing Her Fare of £100 with a woman who currently can't afford to travel across London, you'll be investing in her future and empowering her into employment.
Steph's Story
Meet Steph, she travels to Luminary by getting the tube to Highbury and Islington and then the Overground. It takes her 45 minutes so she enjoys plugging in her headphones and listening to Lizzo to pass the time and keep her calm - public transport makes her anxious but she is determined to not let it stop her from getting to Luminary. She wants to work as a pastry chef, but having learnt the practical skills she requires she feels a bit stumped finding and keeping a job. We're hoping our six-month Luminary Employability and Independence Programme will help her feel confident showcasing her talent and becoming more independent. Could you #shareherrfare to get Steph to Luminary and empower her into employment? By giving £100 to our #shareherfare campaign you will provide Steph or her coursemates with 6 months of the vital tube fares they need to get them to and from Luminary.
