Story
Can you help Sexpression:UK?
What was your sex education like? Did you get any at all? Research by The Terrence Higgins Trust suggests that young people are not receiving adequate RSE, if any! They found that over half of young people rated the RSE they received in school as either poor or terrible. We're striving to change this!
Sexpression:UK is a volunteer-run and student-led charity. We facilitate peer-led, inclusive, and comprehensive Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) in schools FOR FREE across our university branches. Here are some of the things that young people had to say about our sessions:
We learnt lots about things we don't usually cover in class.
They answered all my questions.
[It was] very informative and accepting of all genders and sexuality.
[It was a] safe space.
The instructors were young which made it easier to relate to them.
This year we've reached over 6000 young people, and that's even with the academic year being cut short. We're here to fill a gap in young people's education, ensuring that experiences of RSE are positive, fun and non-judgemental.
As a small charity, we're facing substantial hardship in the face of the pandemic and we need your help. Your support will get us a step closer to a society in which young people are empowered to make informed decisions surrounding their health, bodies and relationships.
So how can you make a difference?
We know that you're donating to support those on the front-line during the crisis and we thank you for this! Many of our volunteers are working in hospitals, healthcare centres, and other key worker roles; we're so pleased to see that they're being supported. We understand that money may be tight at the moment, but as a small charity even £3 means a lot to us.
Donations
Monthly, recurring donations: you can spread your donation out and give over time. This makes giving easier for you and shows us your continued support, it also makes it easier for us to plan. This continuous stream of income would do wonders for our work!
Small, one-off donations: the price of a pint, coffee, slice of cake, or cinema ticket. A small donation can still make a huge difference.
Big Gifts: these can often come from an unexpected windfall such as an inheritance, a tax break, a bonus, or a house sale. Consider us when you're thinking of how to enjoy that money.
