SERV Herts and Beds Bloodrunners are providing vital support to the NHS during the coronavirus crisis.
The team of volunteers - who give up their own time and use their own cars and motorcycles to deliver blood and other vital supplies to hospitals and hospices across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire is also now helping to transport samples for analysis from patients who have been diagnosed with COVID-19
Now more than ever the NHS needs our support as they face the enormous challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Bloodrunners Chairman Ian Hunt. Anything we can do which helps to relieve the pressure on their teams and resources is vital at this critical time.
SERV Herts and Beds Bloodrunners made almost 2,000 deliveries across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire last year, serving NHS hospitals as well as hospices across both counties. On call every day of the year, the free out-of-hours courier service transports blood, drugs and medical equipment for patients. Its volunteers also deliver frozen breast milk for premature babies to local milk banks for distribution to hospital neonatal units across the region.
All donations that enable us to continue our service will be very well received.
