Story
Our Charity has been present in Sutton for over 50 years and during this time our aim has always been to provide volunteering opportunities to the residents of Sutton. VCS aims to unlock potential, address inequalities, and support the vulnerable, disadvantaged, distressed, and deprived, whilst also enabling the volunteers to experience the incredible satisfaction that comes from giving back. It's an opportunity to make connections, build friendships, and create a stronger, more supportive community.
Alongside this, we also run our own in house projects using the power of volunteers. Our MAPS Mentoring, Advocacy and Peer Support program works with children and young people from a variety of difficult backgrounds, equipping them with the skills and behaviours that enable young people to develop into successful and contributing adults with increased confidence and self-esteem, improved well-being and mental health.
Our Befriending project has never been more needed, reducing social isolation, especially in our elderly residents, making them feel supported and better connected in their community.
More recently VCS have been involved in supporting the integration of the Hong Kongers, Afghans and the Ukrainians to settle in to Sutton. We have provided ’Welcome’ Courses, Saturday schools for the Ukrainian children to ensure their language and culture are maintained, coffee mornings, volunteering opportunities, matching with a one to one buddy and large integrating social events, (including a vital introduction to the famous English fish and chips!).
All money raised will be used to continue to fund our charity. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will have a positive impact on someone's life. Thanks so much, your support means an incredible amount to us, our volunteers and beneficiaries.
