Story
Cabrini House is home to 23 amazing people who have a range of learning disabilities and complex sensory needs.
Lockdown for us has been tough. Our community activities that we rely on for stimulation and development of our sensory needs aren't available right now because we are self-isolating during the pandemic due to our health conditions.
Staff at the Diagrama Foundation, the charity that owns and manages our home - have been looking at ways to help keep our lives interesting and engaging by creating an environment for us to thrive in. They have already converted two rooms used as offices into a Montessori learning room and a gym (which we all love!). But we need somewhere we can go when things get a bit overwhelming for us at home. Life is busy here and the sensory challenges we face mean sometimes we can become frustrated. What would help make our lives easier is a space where we can go for some peaceful time to feel calm again and enjoy sensory experiences which help us to focus.
We have allocated a third office room to be converted for this purpose and with your help we can transform this space into a wonderful sensory room for us all to use. We need to buy a range of specialist equipment including lighting and tactile activities to engage us and hope you can support us through donations. We'll update regularly on progress and thank you in advance, from everyone at Cabrini House.
