Girl Scouts promise to make the world a better place. Through opportunities to explore their unique interests and develop critical leadership skills, 23,000 local girls seek challenges, grow in confidence, improve their communities, and plan a better tomorrow for us all.

Girl Scouts San Diego's dynamic programs are more critical than ever. During this difficult time, we are determined to continue pursuing our important mission through the Power Her Promise campaign. We are using this time to build resiliency, understanding, and courage in the next generation of leaders.

More than 45 percent of Girl Scouts in our community live in households that struggle with economic security. This organization provides a path to a better tomorrow regardless of a family's ability to pay, thanks to donors like you.

Several years ago, a young couple with a limited income was raising four young girls in North County. Although neither parent had graduated from high school, each was determined to build a better life for their children.

They enrolled their daughters in the Girl Scout Outreach after school program and immediately saw the girls confidence and curiosity soar. The new Girl Scouts returned home from each meeting full of hope and excitement about camping, making new friends, trying science experiments, and succeeding as cookie entrepreneurs.

The couple quickly saw how Girl Scouts could pave a path to a brighter tomorrow for their girls, and committed to keeping them active in the organization. Now, 12 years later, all four girls are in college, with the eldest in medical school. With the help of Girl Scouts, those dedicated parents succeeded in building a better life for their daughters, who are on their way to making the world a better place.
