Science Creates Outreach is a charity dedicated to shaping the scientists and innovators of tomorrow. Our mission is to demystify STEM careers, diversify the faces of science and empower confident problem-solvers to help tackle global challenges from climate change to healthcare.
Through hands-on workshops, we aim to ignite young people's spark for STEM and equip them with the skills, confidence and knowledge to pursue meaningful futures in science and innovation.
At the heart of our operations is The Learning Lab, a replica adult laboratory and dedicated space for young people. Uniquely located within a state-of-the-art, Deep Tech ecosystem in central Bristol, it is surrounded by over 30 startup companies that are actively working on groundbreaking scientific innovations. This provides young people with a transformative opportunity to go beyond the classroom and witness the real-world applications of STEM that are happening right on their doorstep.

To create meaningful and lasting engagement for young people with STEM, in each visit we offer:
Immersive tours - Young people gain behind-the-scenes access to professional labs, witnessing cutting-edge science research with teams working on cancer treatments, vaccine development, and sustainable technologies. These tours offer unique insights into STEM careers by showcasing real-world innovation.
Hands-on STEM workshops - Delivered in The Learning Lab, our workshops align with school curriculums while also tackling real-world challenges inspired by the research of the surrounding startups companies, from exploring plastic alternatives to DNA sequencing. Learners use specialist equipment, tools and techniques that are often not available in traditional classroom settings.
Engagement with scientists and entrepreneurs - Learners are given the opportunity to interact with STEM professionals from across the ecosystem through a Q&A session, helping them to discover diverse STEM career paths, how to achieve them and the fulfillment of pursuing this area of study.

Our long-term vision is to create a sustained relationship between young people and STEM. We aim for students to return multiple times throughout their primary and secondary education, seek work experience opportunities with us, consider internships during university, and eventually volunteer with us when they become a scientist or start a company of their own.
Science Creates Outreach aims to break down the barriers that prevent many young people from accessing STEM careers. Our programmes are specifically designed to reach disadvantaged and underrepresented groups, ensuring that the scientists and innovators of the future come from all walks of life, offering a rich diversity of perspectives.
