Story
SCI Foundation has an ambition of a world free of preventable diseases.
We work together with Ministries of Health to help establish and grow programmes aimed at treating and preventing parasitic worm infections in 15 countries where none previously existed.
Parasitic worm infections affect people in the poorest and most marginalised communities in the world.
Left untreated, they impair child development, reduce school attendance and productivity, may increase the risk of HIV in women and lead to infertility and damage to internal organs.
In 2018-19, we provided 93.2 million treatments for parasitic worm infections, most of which were provided to children.
