Story
Escola Reom is a community primary school near Beira in Mozambique with 713 students (362 girls and 351 boys in 16 classes and 6 year groups). Mozambique is one of the top 3 poorest countries in the world, and families cannot afford to contribute to the costs of running the schools.
Every classroom at Escola Reom needs to have 31 (2-seater) desks and there are currently 6 classrooms. We need 70 new desks to ensure that there is the right amount of capacity for the children to sit in comfort.
To address this, we are aiming to buy 70 new desks. Each desk costs around £50, so we are hoping to raise £3,500 before the end of December 2025.
The desks will be bought locally in Mozambique. A carpenter will prepare them, and they consist of welded metal tubes and wooden surfaces for sitting and writing.
If we raise more than is needed for these new desks then any surplus money will be used for ongoing building projects at Casa Reom.
