30 years of service under threat
Next year, 2024, should be the year Young People's Counselling Service (or YPCS as we are lovingly known) celebrates its 30th birthday – after being established by a local GP, Dr Gillie Evans, in 1994.
Instead, due to a struggle to find regular funding, we face the horrible truth that unless we raise significant funds by April, we will be forced to close. Already we have been forced to close our waiting list to new children seeking support.
Last year, we helped 450 young people through our free counselling service across our region – from our locations in Peterborough, Yaxley, Wisbech, Whittlesey & Ramsey. And a further 800 through projects supporting the NHS.
Today, we are actively supporting over 90 young people with free counselling and therapy, including through our partnerships with local schools.
We need your help to make sure those young people continue to be given the vital mental health services they need. And that YPCS sees its 30th birthday and beyond.
Please donate what you can or fundraise for our cause. Our target is big, but no donation is too small.
£540 funds a full 12-session course of free therapy and counselling for a young person. Counselling that can change the course of a life.
We'll provide updates on our campaign here. But you can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn - and use #SaveYPCS to join the conversation.
If you would like to fundraise for us, or have a story or an idea you'd like to share to fuel our campaign, we'd love to hear it!
