Children and families have been affected by a 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar with impacts being felt as far as Thailand. There has been widespread destruction, and our teams are urgently assessing the situation. Save the Children has been working in Myanmar since 1995 and is ready to act alongside local partners.

Thanks to our flexible Emergency Fund, we can move quickly to help children and families with what they need most – whether that’s healthcare, shelter, nutritious meals or cash. And our staff are sector-leading in child protection and education in emergencies. So far, more than £700,000 has been allocated for the response from the Emergency Fund.

Our long-term programmes in Myanmar focus on:

• Food security for children and families, while creating income-generating opportunities to support self-reliance and resilience during recovery.

• Improving access to essential health, nutrition, and WASH services.

• Ensuring children receive continuous, quality education.
