Story

Our church in the village of Sproatley is a small parish church, with a Grade II listing, which is now in need of substantial repairs, including a new roof, and repairs to the tower and porch. We would also like to improve the facilities available i.e. connect to a mains water supply, install a toilet and refreshment making facilities.

In a recent survey conducted across the village, many residents responded referring to the church as the 'heart' or 'focal point' of our community. Sproatley is a dormitory village to the city of Hull and has recently suffered a severe downgrade to its bus service into and out of the city, and other local towns. This has led to a sense of isolation for many people. We hope that by improving the facilities at the church we can provide services and host events which will be of benefit to the community and help reduce those feelings of isolation, as well as expanding our options for worship.

We are looking to raise around £340,000 in total, the bulk of which we hope to obtain through major grants but we expect to have to raise around £50,000 locally in matched funding. Fundraising efforts so far have been very successful and we are very grateful to all who have supported us. We hope this page will help us further along the way to achieving our target. THANK YOU!
