Story
We are reaching out to you today with an urgent appeal to help preserve the proud centerpiece of Gerddi Bro Ddyfi Gardens —our beloved Old Oak. This majestic tree has been a symbol of strength and beauty for generations, but time and the elements have taken their toll, and the Old Oak now requires tree surgery to ensure its continued health, and safety for those visiting under its boughs.
Our Story: Our community garden has served as a gathering place for nature enthusiasts, families, and friends to connect with each other and the environment since 2008. The Oak has provided shade, shelter, and a home for an abundance of wildlife over the years- it is an integral feature to the gardens.
Unfortunately, the Old Oak has begun to show signs of decline. With its immense size and age, it requires specialised tree surgery by certified arborists to ensure its continued stability and vitality. We are asking for help to cover the urgent safety work on the oak tree which has already been completed, and for funds for the second phase of work which will ensure the long-term health of the Oak.
Our Funding Goal: To undertake the work required to look after the Old Oak, we must raise £1,500. This will allow us to engage qualified arborists to:
Ensure Safety: Remove hazardous branches and reduce the risk of falling limbs, protecting the well-being of garden visitors.
Restore Health: Address diseases, decay, and structural issues to extend the tree's lifespan and allow it to continue flourishing for generations to come.
Promote Biodiversity: Maintaining this tree ensures that habitat remains for the amazing diversity of species that rely on it, including owls, bats, spotted flycatchers and a wide range of moths.
How You Can Help: We believe that preserving this natural heritage is a responsibility shared by the entire community. Your support, both in spreading the word and making a contribution, will be invaluable in reaching our funding goal.
Spread the Word: Share our crowdfunding campaign with your friends, family, and colleagues through social media, email, and word-of-mouth.
Make a Donation: Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal.
Join Us in Preserving Our Living Legacy: The Old Oak has been a silent guardian of our community garden for decades, and now it needs our help. By coming together, we can save this remarkable tree and continue to enjoy the shade, beauty, and inspiration it provides to all who visit our garden.
Thank you.
