Save Our Baby Bank: Little Green Sock Project Needs Your Help to Secure a New Premises and Continue Supporting Families in Trafford and Greater Manchester
Little Green Sock Project urgently needs to raise £200,000 in the next few months to secure a new premises and keep our vital services running for vulnerable children and families in Greater Manchester. With the backing of our community, we believe we can reach this target and ensure that no child goes without the essentials they need to thrive.
About Little Green Sock Project
Since our founding in 2022, Little Green Sock Project has been dedicated to supporting children and families facing financial hardship by providing essentials such as clothing, cots, prams, toys, and safety equipment. In just two years, we have helped over 1,300 children across Trafford and Greater Manchester, distributing more than £240,000 worth of items and diverting 20 tonnes of donated goods from landfill.
As the only baby bank in Trafford, we provide a critical lifeline for families in need, working closely with health, social care, and voluntary sector partners who refer families to us for support.
The Urgent Need
Our current location at Stretford Mall is set to be demolished in 2025, and we need to secure a new home by January 2024 to avoid a devastating closure. We are seeking to raise £200,000 to fund a new, accessible, ground-floor space of approximately 5,000 square feet, which will allow us to continue serving the growing number of families in our community who rely on our support.
This funding will enable us to either lease or renovate a suitable building from which to operate, ensuring that we can continue to deliver our essential services to families across Greater Manchester.
What Happens If We Don’t Reach Our Goal?
If we are unable to secure new premises by early next year, Little Green Sock Project will be forced to close, leaving hundreds of families and children without access to essential items. In the event that we do have to close, any restricted donations will be discussed with the donor and either returned or repurposed. Any funding raised will go toward maintaining our services for as long as possible, to ensure that families can access support up until the very last day we’re open.
However, we are determined to keep going and believe that with your support, we can find a solution to continue this vital work for the long term. If we successfully secure a new premises, the funding from this appeal will be used to cover the costs of the relocation and ensure a smooth transition so that we can continue to support children and families without disruption.
