April 2025 Update:
1st April was the date when funding for our survivor support services was set to end and we faced the heartbreaking possibility of closing our doors after 47 years of service.
When we launched our emergency appeal in January, our £500,000 fundraising target loomed like an impossible mountain.
But our support centre remains open, our helpline will still answer calls, and survivors will continue to find safety and healing with us - all because of you.
We're grateful to each and every one of you - individual donors, community fundraisers, local businesses, trusts and foundations - who answered our call for help.
You who organised fundraisers, shaved your head, ran raffles, ran races, gave up birthday presents in place of donations, or donated whatever you could afford. You who spread the word about our crisis, emailed your MPs, and asked your friends and family to help.
Whether you gave money, time or energy - your extraordinary generosity raised over £300,000 to save our vital services.
📈 You may have noticed we're now at 92% of our £500,000 target (£461,000). This recent increase includes a 12-month contract extension from Cheshire East Council for 16 refuge spaces.
While this is a positive step for our safe accommodation, all of the other services we offer adult and child survivors - our Crewe support centre, 24/7 helpline, recovery programmes, Macclesfield store and hub, and our clothes, food and baby bank - have been saved for the next 12 months thanks to our incredible community of supporters; thanks to YOU.
We’ll probably never be able to quite find the words to express our gratitude but we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And the beautiful artwork created during one of our survivor group sessions you can see here hopefully shows just how grateful the people we help are to you too. 🎨❤
We’re over one (huge) hurdle in keeping our services running for another year, but the road ahead is still long. Our doors and services have been open to those in need for almost 50 years, and we plan on being around 50 more and beyond. So please continue to support us. And we can promise that every single penny you give goes straight to the people who need it - because the need is very much still there.
For now - THANK YOU ❤️
After almost 50 years of being a lifeline for survivors in Cheshire East, our support centre and service faces closure.
The Council has confirmed it has no money to fund our services from April 2025.
- 24/7 emergency helpline

"This charity literally saved my life" - MyCWA service user
For nearly five decades, we've been there at 3am when someone needs immediate escape. We've supported children traumatised by abuse to rebuild their lives. We've helped thousands of survivors find safety, strength, and a new beginning.
But now we need your help.
We’re fighting to raise funds to keep our services running and doors open for another year, but we can’t do this without you.
We could still facilitate vital survivor support groups and children’s group recovery sessions in alternative locations—even if we are unable to save our Crewe support centre and Macclesfield community store and hub
The above, plus our staffed 24/7 helpline would remain open.
All the above, plus our support centre would stay open, offering volunteer-led activities such as the food bank and baby bank.
All the above, plus one front-line staff member, essential emergency provisions, and basic crisis support.
All the above, plus core survivor support services, basic children’s services, and essential recovery programmes.
- Comprehensive crisis response
- Full children’s and survivor support services
- Emergency accommodation
- Behaviour change programmes
- Multi-agency coordination
- Community outreach and support
"Without MyCWA, I doubt I'd still be here, nor would my sons be experiencing the happy and healthy lives they are enjoying currently." - Abi Blake, MyCWA Advocate
In 2017, Abi was left for dead on her bedroom floor, her neck broken and spine damaged, while her baby slept in the next room. After years of escalating abuse, her husband's brutal attack left her with life-changing injuries - unable to write, pick up her children, or perform basic tasks.
But Abi survived. With MyCWA's support, she rebuilt her life. Today, she's not just surviving - she's thriving, working as a trauma coach supporting children and adults. Alongside being a certified McKenzie Friend within the Family Court system. Assisting other survivors and helping others escape abuse.
Now, the same vital services that helped transform Abi's life - and the lives of her children - could disappear in just 8 weeks.
Every donation helps save lives.
Please give what you can and share our appeal.
