Story
Your effort or sacrifice at home may seem small but you can save many lives
While the Coronavirus pandemic is making life very difficult for everyone, it is creating a humanitarian disaster in developing countries, where access to clean water for hand-washing or medical care is practically impossible. Where Christians live as minorities in contexts of pressure and persecution, this has a disproportionate effect on the Christian community. Persecuted Christians are on the margins of their societies, and can be deliberately left out when general aid is distributed. Many are desperately poor already, often because of anti-Christian discrimination. Many work in low-paid jobs as daily-wage earners. They were too poor to have savings, and with lockdown they have lost their meagre incomes.
What will my fundraiser provide?
1. Food
For Christians who lost their income when lockdown came.
2. Hygiene products
Soap, sanitiser gel and other materials to help poor Christians, living in overcrowded situations, to keep themselves from being infected by Coronavirus.
3. Rural pastor support
Many pastors, especially in rural areas, depend on the offerings of their congregations. But now their congregations cannot meet and they have no means of support for themselves and their families.
How is Barnabas Fund is helping?
Barnabas Fund has established a Barnabas Coronavirus Emergency Network (BCEN) to monitor the evolving situation on the ground and deliver project aid. There are currently over 100 churches, ministries and Christian networks from nearly 60 countries in the BCEN.
