Mark Byrd began his journey as a lineman before becoming a teacher and coach. He ended his career combining the two professions he loved: teaching and linework. He inspired countless students, athletes, and colleagues, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the numerous lives he touched and the love he shared with his students, friends, and family. His memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.

A memorial service was held at Greene’s Funeral Home, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC, on Thursday, June 6th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, a link was provided for donations to The Sarge Byrd Scholarship, which will offer tuition assistance to future linemen enrolled in the Utility Line Worker Program at York Technical College.
