Visit the charity's profileThe Sandusky Recreation department works on bringing features to the community that would benefit everyone. From outdoor sports, fitness, family activity time, wildlife areas, safe gathering, kids socializing and family bonding parks promote community wellness. The wellness isn't just physical but mental health as well. Creating a space that is beneficial to both the mind and body is what we wish to accomplish.
The City of Sandusky is home to three parks: Doerr Field, Diamond Trail, and George Haupt Memorial. Each park brings features special to our community such as a walking trail, splash pad, fitness equipment, sports fields, playgrounds, and/or pavilions.
Fundraising and donors are what make our department able to grow and offer such great community resources. Without their help, our parks would not offer such features.
We are currently seeking donors to help us reach our goals to add new features to our community parks.
Goal 1-Two dinosaur fossil digs at Doerr Field in the sand area
Goal 2-Drinking fountain at Diamond Trail Park
Goal 3-Picnic tables at Diamond Trail under the pavilion
We ask you to consider making our goals a reality by donating today or contacting the recreation director to see what you can do to become more involved.
Sandusky's slogan is Welcome Home, and that is how we want it to feel every time someone comes to visit. Our community is a place where you can come to relax, spend time with friends and family, and reconnect to the outdoors. The features that our parks have are unique, just like our community. The uniqueness comes from community donors who believe in our program and want to see it grow. Without such generosity, we wouldn't be able to have such items like the diamond trail pavilion, fitness equipment, playground at George Haupt Memorial, and much more. Fundraising allows for new equipment for the parks. To become more involved with the recreation department please contact City Hall.
