Story
Having thrived on our planet for millions of years, as one of only a handful of fish that can survive in fresh and marine environments, wild Atlantic salmon are very special. Today, too many challenges threaten their survival. Open-net salmon farming is one of these and a notable cause of their decline.
Last year more than 16.7 million farmed salmon died prematurely on Scottish salmon farms. This was almost double the previous year. Even salmon farms certified by leading certification schemes such as Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), RSPCA Assured and Soil Association Organic suffer from shocking environmental damage and welfare concerns.
Watch the video below to learn more about the damage caused by open-net salmon farming.
The money you donate will be used to continue building a movement of chefs and restaurants across the country ready to join us in taking farmed salmon Off the table.
Through working with chefs and restaurants, we will spread the word that farmed salmon is not a sustainable choice - for consumers or policymakers.
