Story
New Jersey's first designated Regional Perinatal Center, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at The Children's Hospital at Saint Peter's University Hospital is a 54 bassinet, Level III unit that cares for more than 800 newborns annually. A baby's length of stay ranges from 1 to over 200 days, but no matter the number of days in the unit, the impact is lasting.
My daughters would not be alive if it weren't for Saint Peter's. Born twelve weeks too soon, it was difficult to imagine milestones in their lives; we were focused on surviving each day. Now, with their 16th birthday just a few months away, we are grateful every single day. We will always support Saint Peters, especially the NICU, and the life-changing care and compassion they deliver. - Reena K.
The NICU team provides the most comprehensive neonatal care in the state for newborns and infants and are continually recognized for the expert patient care provided. This past year, the NICU received dual national recognitions. Saint Peters NICU is the only New Jersey based hospital to be recognized among the top 50 in the nation in neonatology for the second year in a row by U.S. News & World Report and received its third consecutive Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
