You have no doubt heard about and understand the pressures maintained (state) schools are currently facing, due to a decade of austerity, high energy bills, spiralling costs and unfunded pay rises. As a result, schools are looking to the generous support from their communities to help with resources and upgrading of facilities.

Our school is embarking on a fundraising initiative to ask 80 individuals and businesses to donate £500 each towards a new playground. We believe that every child deserves access to a safe and stimulating play environment, and we're reaching out to local individuals and businesses to help make this vision a reality.

At Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School our mission is to guide our children ‘to grow in wisdom and in grace’. We are an inclusive school, welcoming families of all backgrounds. We have a high number of children with Special Education Needs and higher than the national average of children with English as an Additional Language. We have a Good rating from Ofsted and are very proud to have long serving teachers and a happy and vibrant parent community. Our children are constantly achieving outstanding results in all areas of school life from academic competitions, to sports and cross country racing. They are also active in community, performing at Henley Living Advent, participating in Henley Youth festival and an extensive range of extra curricular activities.

One of the pressing needs at our School is the establishment of a new playground area. Outdoor physical play is not just about fun; it's an integral part of children's development, fostering physical health, social skills, and emotional well-being. Your support can make a tangible difference in the lives of our children. By pledging £500, you can contribute to the construction of a vibrant new playground that will benefit generations of students to come.

It's heartening to note the school has already taken proactive steps in fundraising, with parents running a marathon and raising just over £2,000 towards the playground project.

We will be including a plaque in our new playground with the names of the businesses and people in our community who pledged £500 to make it happen! We will also be speaking to the local news once we achieve our goal, acknowledging those who helped us get there.
