Story
To celebrate our 15th anniversary, we would like to help bridge the digital divide in Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead and North Tyneside.
To do this, we would like to donate 60 laptops and provide internet access to 60 households that currently do not have access to one.
We will also be providing 30 parents/guardians with a free 6-week digital training course that will equip them with essential 21st century skills.
Success4All will be liaising with local councils, schools and refugee service providers to ensure those most in need get the support they deserve.
*12% of adults in the North East have zero digital skills.
Covid-19 has further highlighted the educational inequalities, as well as the digital divide that exists on our doorstep.
In the North East alone, over 55,000 families do not have access to a laptop, tablet or computer.
Through no fault of their own, many Children and Young People (CYP) fell behind in their studies. While many factors come into play, the digital divide is what caught many by surprise.
Though delayed, schools and local businesses did deliver laptops to CYP who did not have access to one. However, many parents and children alike struggled with using the devices as they didn't know how to use them.
*Over the lockdown period, we donated 22 laptops to our beneficiaries and trained over 30 parents.
Once the restrictions, were lifted and schools reopened, children were requested to return the laptops. Sadly, Success4All was also forced to call back the laptops that were on loan.
In an era where everything is done through a click of a button, many families are struggling in silence, and too many children and young people are being left behind.
We know that the digital world is here to stay, but the divide is growing.
Children and young people still have homework and revision to complete, and those who fell behind will need your help now more than ever!
Children as well as their parents need to be equipped with digital skills today for a better tomorrow.
We know this doesn't address the issue at large, but with your donation, you can help change the future of an entire family.
On their behalf, thank you!
Success4All has provided free 6-week Google Suite for Education training to over 30 parents in the last 6 months. We've worked incredibly hard to improve our training and are continuously tailoring our delivery to suit the groups we support.
