Story
Rock Your Socks for Mencap is back this March to raise awareness and vital funds to support people with a learning disability across the UK. Mencap is asking people to wear their funkiest socks and donate or really rock by planning a fun activity to bring people together and raise funds!
Most people have two copies of chromosome 21, while those with three copies of chromosome 21 have Down’s syndrome. When you look very closely chromosomes are shaped like little socks. This is why Mencap raises awareness of Down’s syndrome throughout March by wearing colourful socks.
World Down’s Syndrome Day is an inclusive day for everyone and is a chance for us all to celebrate and support people with Down’s syndrome and people with other learning disabilities. By wearing socks that stand out, you can start a conversation and raise vital funds for Mencap to continue providing essential support for people with a learning disability across the UK.
