Story
As a small, “lean” and thoughtful charity, we do aim to offer good value for money.
Our mission is to help to relieve poverty in Rwanda, and we are all about empowerment.
Furthermore, we aim to develop pilot initiatives which become catalysts for change.
We believe there is no better way of giving young people choice and opportunity than by giving them a good education. That is why we are developing a grass roots in-service teacher training programme designed to reduce drop-out and improve pupil performance.
Already this is proving so successful that aspects of the scheme have been adopted by the Rwandan government and we have good reason to believe that further elements will be replicated bringing benefit to all schoolchildren in Rwanda.
Our Building Communities programme focuses on one small region at a time. developing smart and bespoke interventions that will lift the spirit and well-being of the whole community. Very careful monitoring and evaluation enable us to produce hard evidence of the effectiveness of the interventions which is the best way of ensuring that good practices are adopted and replicated.
Finally, we are committed to Inclusion, especially of the disabled, and we are encouraged to be working in close collaboration with our local districts and with the support of the national authorities. Already we are seeing a better understanding of disability in the community along with a shift in attitudes, and again we believe we are developing a template that invites replication.
