For over 40 years The Lions Club of Rutland have accompanied Santa in visiting children and families in Rutland, and 2020 will be no different, well a little bit different, but Santa still intends to visit all the usual routes plus a few extra.
Santas visit is now a long established tradition in Rutland, and is enjoyed by all. It is also an opportunity for the club to raise much needed funds with which to support many deserving individuals and organisations within the Rutland community. This year has been no different and amongst other things we have helped a number of individuals in distress with financial assistance, and have just purchased a number of iPads for children with additional needs at The Parks School.
Due to Covid, arrangements will be a little different, and the Elves will not knocking on doors, and all will be wearing face coverings, but there will be a bucket on the sleigh if you wish to donate via old fashioned cash. If you are unable to get out and wave at Santa, or wish to understandably socially distance as he passes, then we would be very grateful if you could support us by donating online via this Just Giving page.
There will be two post boxes on Santas sleigh for children who wish to post a letter to Santa, and Santa intends to reply to each and every one. The Santa letter template can be found and printed via the Lions website. Lastly, Santa can be tracked each evening as he approaches your road via our Facebook page.
Finally we would like to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a Peaceful and Healthy New Year.
