Story
The UK's poorest schoolchildren need your help.
Imagine youre going out for a run with a friend. Their half of the running route is clear, yet yours is lined with hurdles. Unfair, right? But thats what our education system is like for the UKs poorest children.
Society is failing too many children from disadvantaged backgrounds. They don't start with the same chances and the inequality continues throughout childhood. Its not their fault and it leaves their future at risk and our society's.
Your support can change that. It begins by getting great teachers into the schools that need them most. But it doesn't stop there.
Together, we can support schools facing the toughest challenges through leadership training at all levels. Because when a school's leadership team thrives, their pupils thrive.
We know that when we get the foundations right for disadvantaged pupils, every young person can have the opportunities they deserve.
No one gets a second chance at childhood. Together, lets make sure everyone gets a first.

In 2021, Run the River raised more than £170,000 for Teach First. This amount can give more than 20,400 children access to quality careers education through a trained Careers Leader, reaching the schools facing the biggest challenges.
This year we're aiming to raise £250,000, including £25,000 from this campaign.

When is Run the River taking place?
We're celebrating ten years of our twilight charity run along the River Thames on Wednesday 21 September 2022. Whilst the virtual event will be taking place between Monday 19 - Sunday 25 September. But our fight to put an end to wasted potential is far from over.
With an in-person event and virtual running option to choose from, there's never been an easier way to take part.
"The team effort was fantastic and I'm delighted to say that we're well on the way to having a team for next year's run already. Thanks to all." - Gerald Shortland, The Butchers Guild
