From 1 February - 7 March 2025, Matt Murray and Charles Raw completed their “Running Wild Challenge" - an epic 1,222km run from Port Alfred to Cape Town in South Africa.
Through all weather conditions pains and niggles they ran the distance over 35 days with the goal of raising R2,300,000 / £100,000
The goal is to enable construction of 2 classrooms and renovation of the dilapidated admin block at Velakukhanya Primary School based in KwaNgwenya community, rural KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
Charles and Matt, supported in this crazy mission by their partners and small children, chose Velakukhanya Primary School as a project in their beloved province of KwaZulu-Natal, where they grew up, in order to create opportunities for all children in the area to have access to quality education.
The overcrowded school has an average of over 60 students per classroom and an administrative block that is structurally unsound and without space to effectively manage the schools operations and confidential documentation.
These improvements will enable the delivery of better, quality education in a safe and conducive learning environment. Giving the students of Velakukhanya Primary the opportunity to realise their own dreams through the solid foundation of education.
Matt and Charles would like to share that they are eternally grateful to everyone who supported their endeavour and donated on this and other fundraising platforms and through other mechanisms, including contributions not shown here from:
Beau Constantia
Tara Getty Foundation
Sheila and Neil Surgey
Thais Racy
and many more.
Friday 7th March marked the last day of the run but not the end of the fundraising campaign.
Matt, Charles and Wild Impact are committed to reaching the target needed to transform Velakukhanya Primary School and appreciate your support to continue contributing until we reach our funding goal!
