Living on as little as £6.40 or £1.28 a day for food, sanitation, and clothing people seeking asylum experience poverty and financial hardship.
Aid Box Community is a registered charity committed to upholding the basic human rights of refugees and people seeking asylum in Bristol.
“So, this is really our place, it’s our house, it’s a way really, we feel that we are human.”
We have a Free Shop & Welcome Hub for refugees and people seeking asylum to access free, quality items from clothing, toiletries, and toys, to household and electrical items. This aims to provide practical aid, restore dignity and choice, and welcome all displaced people living in Bristol.
As well as the shop, we run sports & activity groups, a befriending service, and provide emergency items and signposting advice. This provides opportunities for community engagement, recreation, preparation for employment and access to support services in order for people to become emotionally and financially independent.
"You take away my pain and give me peace. I can't provide for my children but when I return home with the clothes I bring back for them their eyes light up."
