Story
A Reason to "Run"
For 500 years, wild horses have adapted to surviving on the unique coastal landscape of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Pushed to the far ends of its beaches as development continues, the Banker horses of Corolla are recognized by the Equus Survival Trust as critically endangered, but properly managed.
As a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, the Corolla Wild Horse Fund depends on the generosity of people like you to support our mission to protect, conserve, and responsibly manage this historical herd. You can actively contribute to our work by participating in your local event on behalf of the Fund, or even in your own solo endeavor.
Ways You Can Help
We encourage that fundraisers be created under our "Run for the Wild Horses" campaign to recruit sponsors and donations for the Bankers. Whether you are running, swimming, cycling, sailing, or even playing in a tournament, you can do whatever it is you love all while making a difference for the future of the wild horses.
For those who wish to help but are unsure where to give or are unable to fundraise themselves, the Corolla Wild Horse Fund is a charity beneficiary of the OBX Running Company's Lighthouse 5k Series presented by Brindley Beach Vacations held most Wednesdays through mid-September 2023 in the Historic Corolla Village.
